About Delta-21
History
In 1982, Delta-21, under its original name of Information Management Services (IMS), was founded in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on an awarded contract from the U.S. Department of Energy to create and operate computer aided information processing systems for scientific information being shared between National Laboratories and United States International Research Partners. In the early 1990s, the company embarked upon a program of technical capability diversity with the addition of a broader spectrum of government clients and services. The name of the company was changed to reflect a new vision. The new company name incorporated the necessity for change, as reflected in the Greek "delta" symbol, and "21" for the 21st century.
National Recognition
Independently recognized by the United States Department of Energy and the United States Department of Agriculture as the sole recipient of the National HUBZone Small Business Contractor of the Year. Awards were presented by the Energy and Agriculture Secretaries for the demonstration of exceptional performance and outstanding support in meeting the mission of the Departments.

Our teams have supported the protection of North America from non-native insect, plant, and animal species, and participated in hazardous waste remediation projects throughout the federal government complex.
Working with our veterinary and dog handler team our projects managers integrate cutting-edge data collection technologies and animal resources. As part of the National Dog Detector Program, USDA APHIS uses detector dogs, primarily in airports, mail facilities, border crossings, and cargo ports. Delta-21 has been developing trained dogs to integrate into our field response teams to detect the Asian Long-horned Beetle and Emerald Ash Borer, two invasive insect species introduced through shipping corridors into the United States from Asia. These insect species threaten North American natural resources and billions of dollars in state economic losses. In addition, our dog teams support federal natural disaster responses.

Our veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and animal handlers support federal animal and research programs within the Justice and Agriculture Departments. Projects include support in national animal seizures, public compliance support, disease monitoring and eradication.
